Our Story
About Volta Peak
Ghana's highest boutique hotel, where the cool mountain air, dramatic highland vistas and warm Ghanaian hospitality come together to create an escape above the clouds.
Our Story
A Dream Built on the Highest Ridge
Volta Peak Boutique Hotel began with a single sunrise. The founders, returning to the Volta Region after years abroad, drove up the winding road to Amedzofe and watched the morning light spill across the Akwapim-Togo ranges. Standing on that ridge, they promised to share the view with the world — but to do so gently, respectfully, and beautifully.
Amedzofe, the highest human settlement in Ghana, sits between 2,221 and 2,400 feet above sea level. It is a place of mist, waterfalls, sacred forests and some of the cleanest air in West Africa. Building here meant accepting a responsibility: to create a hotel that elevates the guest experience without diminishing the landscape that makes it possible.
Every beam, balcony and window was placed to frame the mountains. Local craftsmen shaped the timber, village guides mapped the trails, and the menu was built around produce from nearby farms. Today, Volta Peak stands as West Africa's highest boutique hotel — not because it towers over the land, but because it belongs to it.

Our Philosophy
Three Pillars, One Experience
Every decision at Volta Peak is guided by three beliefs: that nature should be felt, that luxury should be effortless, and that hospitality should strengthen the community around it.
Nature
We built the hotel around the land, not over it. Native planting, timber finishes and panoramic windows keep the mountains close, the air fresh, and the rhythm of the forest part of every stay.
Luxury
Luxury here is quiet: crisp linen, rain showers, private balconies, and service that anticipates before you ask. Every detail is chosen to help you feel restored, not merely accommodated.
Community
Volta Peak is a family-run retreat rooted in Amedzofe. We hire locally, source from nearby farms, and partner with village guides so your visit directly supports the community that welcomed us.
Why Amedzofe
The Roof of the Volta Region
Amedzofe is more than a location — it is the reason Volta Peak exists. Perched on the edge of the Akwapim-Togo ranges, the village offers a rare combination of altitude, climate and natural drama that is difficult to find anywhere else in West Africa.
The air is cool and clean, the pace is slower, and the views stretch for miles. From here, guests can hike Mount Gemi at dawn, walk the famous canopy bridge, chase waterfalls through the forest, or simply sit on the balcony and watch the clouds drift below.
